Steven Brown is the longtime leader of Tuxedomoon and a central figure of the New York No Wave scene, to whose aesthetic and language he contributed significantly between the late 1970s and early 1980s. Founded in 1977, Tuxedomoon became one of the most influential art-rock bands of that period, shaping a musical language poised between experimentation, electronics, and narrative expression.
At Sala Vanni, Brown presents In This Very World (PIAS, 2026), an intense and visionary album that weaves together personal memory, literary, cinematic, and political references, and a refined approach to sound research. The work alternates between songs marked by Brown’s unmistakable vocal presence and stripped-down instrumental compositions built around horns and piano. Alongside new material, the concert also features live reinterpretations of Tuxedomoon’s historic repertoire, unfolding as a coherent journey in constant dialogue between past and present.
