Described by Le Monde as “a lesson, a model, perfection from A to Z,” Baptiste Trotignon is one of the leading figures in contemporary French jazz. Since the early 2000s, he has established himself on the international scene through his trio and solo piano works, receiving major accolades including the Prix Django Reinhardt and the Grand Prix at the Martial Solal International Competition.
Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with artists such as Tom Harrell, Stefano Di Battista, Aldo Romano, and Brad Mehldau, developing an artistic path that bridges jazz, classical music, and orchestral writing. Trotignon continues to explore a wide range of musical languages through jazz trio projects, chamber music, and interdisciplinary works. Recent projects include Brexit Music, PianoForte, Ces messieurs…, and PianoVoix with Arthur Teboul.
September 2026 will see the release of Art Is Simple, his new album for Naïve Records: a trio project for piano, double bass, and drums, entirely composed of original pieces, marking a new phase in his artistic research. The album stands out for its more essential and contemplative language, built around the idea of immediate and intuitive writing, capable of avoiding unnecessary complexity without sacrificing expressive depth.
