First Musicus Concentus’s 2024 previews

With the beginning of 2024, it’s time to reveal the first artists who will be part of the 32nd edition of Tradizione In Movimento. Three exclusive concerts between jazz, folk and songwriting in the beautiful Sala Vanni in Piazza del Carmine in Florence.

The first one is Širom (Friday, Feb. 16), a Slovenian trio with a unique and highly original sound. Theirs is an “ancestral” acoustic folk, played on improvisation and polyphony, indebted to psychedelia and classical music. To compose their songs, the Široms make use of many instruments, including exotic (bass, violin, hurdy-gurdy, tubular bells, kalimba, banjo, bendir, rebab among others) and self-made ones.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, it is the turn of GNUT, one of the most promising Italian singer-songwriters of the moment. His hallmark is a songwriting that brings together Nick Drake and Elliot Smith with the Italian songwriting tradition and the Neapolitan song of Roberto Murolo.

Closing this trio the concert of Alabaster dePlume, among the hottest names in world jazz, scheduled for Friday, March 8. A saxophonist, composer, activist and speaker, and a leading name on the prestigious International Anthem label, he offers a bold and interesting intersection of jazz, folk and classical music, full of nostalgic melodies that harken back to a carefree era.

Tickets for the concerts are already on sale on Boxol.it.

The activities of Musicus Concentus benefit from the contribution of Ministero della Cultura, Regione Toscana, Comune di Firenze, Città Metropolitana di Firenze and Fondazione CR Firenze.
