ENEMY is the technicolor Berlin/London based piano trio featuring pianist Kit Downes, bassist Petter Eldh and drummer James Maddren. Described as ‘fiercely intense’ and ‘beautifully intricate’ by the UK’s Guardian, their previous three records ENEMY (Edition), Vermillion (ECM) and The Betrayal (Wejazz) spotlights three brilliant and creative musical minds, all equally committed to the exploration of constantly morphing new horizons.
ENEMY is about intensity and complexity – tense negotiations involving cryptic rhythms and wonky beats with light speed reactions and high focus – written to deliberately push them to their limits – both creatively and technically. Celebrating their 10th year together, they released a new live album – Fiend (Edition) – in April 2025, recorded over two days at the Birds Eye in Basel, CH in 2024.

The duo formed by singer Maria Cortesi, from the Marche region, and Ligurian guitarist Edoardo Ferri cultivates an essential and authentic musical language. Through original compositions and an electroacoustic sound that weaves together folk and jazz influences, the two musicians pursue a constant dialogue to reach the core of their stories — with sincerity and deep listening.
