Friday, February 28, 2025
Sala Vanni, h. 21:15
Alessandro “Asso” Stefana, Italian guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, blends folk, cinematic sounds, and ambient music into soundscapes of intense allure. Over the past two decades, he has built an unconventional path, staying out of the spotlight but enriched by collaborations with renowned Italian and international artists such as PJ Harvey, Micah P. Hinson, Vinicio Capossela, Calexico, Penguin Cafe, and many others.
With his band Guano Padano, Alessandro “Asso” Stefana has released several applauded records featuring prominent guests such as Alessandro Alessandroni (the famous whistle in Ennio Morricone’s soundtracks), Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell and Mike Patton. His diverse discography also includes a solo album titled Poste e Telegrafi (Important Records – 2007), showcasing his mastery of blending sounds and his ability to transcend musical genres.
His latest solo work, released on May 2024 by Ipecac Recordings and titled Alessandro “Asso” Stefana, is a sonic journey of deep introspection that begins in the dusty lands of folk and rises to the stardust. Supporting this project is none other than PJ Harvey as executive producer, who, in the album’s liner notes, described his music as “mysterious and beautiful”.
