Aida was born out of the friendship of four young Florentine friends. In their debut, not even 20 years old, they participate in Controradio’s Rock Contest and in the summer of 2022 they win the RockUnMonte contest. The victory leads them to play a 16-date tour between Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and Lombardy, in locations such as Arci Bellezza in Milan and Teatro Romano di Fiesole. Between 2021 and 2022, Aida released 4 singles with Black Candy, a historic Florentine label. One of which (“Papaveri nds“) was in rotation for more than a month in two Spotify playlists: RockItalia and Scuola Indie.
Preceded by three singles (“Frammenti”, “Camera Mia”, “Sanpietrini”), Aida’s first album Sotto i sanpietrini il mare was released on April 5, 2024, produced by ALTI records/Dischi Maestro and distributed by Visory/Believe. Eight songs that are stories of everyday life, born and bred with the musicians over time and without haste. The focus are teenagers, their relationships with the people around them and their inner worlds, the doubts and uncertainties they see reflected in many of their peers. It’s difficult to identify in a precise genre the music of Aida, as each group member has different influences. What they share is a passion for fuzz and distortion and for alternative-rock and post-punk.
