Internationally renowned jazz pianist Stefano Maurizi, originally from Florence, owes his love for music to his Lebanese grandfather, a scholar and music enthusiast. Initially trained in classical piano, he later developed a deep passion for contemporary jazz. His new solo piano project, Nomad, inspired by the works of Korean artist Gwang Moku (who passed away in 2022), premiered in New York on November 29, 2024.
Among his accolades is an honorary mention from Italian Ambassador to the Middle East Massimo Marotti during his 2016 tour in Lebanon. Following his 2018 solo album Native Colors, Maurizi released Dialogues (Enja Records, 2021), a trio project with Luciano Biondini and Mirco Mariottini, and Migration Routes (Challenge Records, 2024), a work on the spiritual melodies of Anatolia, selected as one of the year’s best albums by critic Neri Pollastri on AllAboutJazz.
