Born in Ascoli Piceno, Michele Mazzocchi is a jazz-trained double bassist, bassist and composer whose collaborations range from indie-pop (official bassist for Gio Evan) to jazz, from classical to world music, with forays into the world of theater and dance. Zabì Almi is his first official project as composer and band leader.
In Zabì Almi different musical traditions are explored and reworked through the sensibility of a musician who defines himself first and foremost as a listener. The result is an epoetic hybrid language (hence the choice of the Dantean gramelot Zabì Almi as the title for the project) that rangesfrom isoritimia to gamelan music, from Paolo Conte to Apulian folk song.
