Their music is rooted in the folk songs of the 1300s and blended with the improvisation and structures of modern jazz. The name Momo (Italian for “now”) in the Neapolitan dialect stands for something that is concretized at the very moment it is thought of and is meant to delineate the visceral and completely spontaneous character of the ensemble. \nThe music of the Momo Ensemble is meant to be the pretext for a long journey without boundaries of genre and time\, from the pagan-religious songs of “Madonna dell’Arco\,” to the Tammurriata of Pagani\, to the works of Silvia Bolognesi and Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah.
