Francesco Maccianti, Ares Tavolazzi and Roberto Gatto—an iconic trio of Italian jazz—return to Sala Vanni in Florence to present the premiere of their new album Playing Standards, released at the end of 2025 by the Japanese label Terasima Records. The album features pieces made famous—or originally composed—by pianists who shaped their musical development, opening significant pathways that, for their artistic weight and importance, fully deserve a fresh and personal interpretation.
Classically trained, Maccianti has built a distinguished artistic career, marked by collaborations with major Italian and international musicians and by his commitment to teaching at the Centro AttivitĂ Musicali, which he co-founded. Roberto Gatto, an internationally renowned drummer, combines impeccable technique with a refined timbral exploration infused with the warmth of Mediterranean tradition. Ares Tavolazzi, a talented double bassist and accomplished theatre composer, has worked with some of the most influential voices in Italian popular music and was a member of the historic group Area.
