Born in Fermo in 1966, Daniele Di Bonaventura has embraced music in its fullest sense: from classical to contemporary, from jazz to tango and world music, with forays into theater, cinema, and dance. In recent years he has been in the spotlight through his collaboration with Miroslav Vitous and, above all, his duo with Paolo Fresu. He has also performed with Enrico Rava, Toots Thielemans, Omar Sosa, Greg Osby, Oliver Lake, David Murray, Dino Saluzzi, Francesco Guccini, and Ornella Vanoni.
In Ritus, the bandoneonist’s original compositions evoke sacred chants and Mediterranean-inspired dance steps, creating the emotional impression of a celebratory rite: an atmosphere rich in pathos, with the typical and beguiling chiaroscuro nuances and the veiled melancholy of this master of the bellows instrument. For this solo project, however, Di Bonaventura expands the timbral palette, revealing himself as a versatile multi-instrumentalist: flutes, percussion, and effects, along with vocals and his inseparable bandoneon, create a moving and evocative sound journey, charged with deep emotion.
