Alessio Bondì is a Palermitan singer-songwriter born in ’88. His poetry offers a new and exciting perspective on dialect, which he privileges as a language of the Deep, never confined to merely traditional contexts nor considered a second-class language. After an inspired and acclaimed debut album (Sfardo, 2015), Bondì’s parable seems to seek an ever deeper immersion in a Sicily now sensual and rhythmic (Nivuru, 2018), now inspired by spells and hexes (Maharia, 2021), now steeped in lonely guitars and processional melodies (Spaccaossa OST, 2022); and accompanied by an ever broadening interest between Italy and abroad.
With his fourth album, Runnegghiè, released in November 2024, he creates a sound world of opposite extremes, dense with violent and sweet, dark and joyful atmospheres, with hints of the world of tradition, enlivened by a contemporary feeling. The production by Fabio Rizzo, already producer of all the singer-songwriter’s other LPs, exalts a Sicily made of ritual drums, laments and Mediterranean guitars, with one foot in the archaic and the other in beatmaking.Dialect becomes the key to a shared, communal emotion that allows one to transcend one’s self to reach a collective, pre-linguistic ecstasy, in which it no longer matters who one is but only to get to disperse oneself in the Others, in Music, in the Whole.
