A JAZZ SUPREME: PROGRAM OF THE 8TH EDITION

After the sold-out spring premiere with Alabaster dePlume, in October A Jazz Supreme, Musicus Concentus’s festival that brings to Florence the best projects of the contemporary jazz scene, comes back to the city for the eighth consecutive year. The festival line up consists of six concerts, all of them with an international scope, ready to show the different shades of a constantly evolving genre.

The eighth edition of A Jazz Supreme opens with two new projects: the Elias Stemeseder & Thomas Morgan Duo (4.10, Sala Vanni), longtime members of the Jim Black trio, who preview their upcoming album, and the brand new EMEM Trio, formed by Simone Graziano, Francesco Ponticelli and Marco Frattini (11.10, Sala Vanni).

Young multi-instrumentalist and producer Ze In The Clouds ( 18.10, Sala Vanni) is the star of the third night of the series with his album Oportet 475, released last year by Paolo Fresu’s Tǔk Music. At the end of October comes Mobile, the stunning trio of Swiss pianist Nik Bärtsch (25.10, Sala Vanni), who returns to Florence a year after his participation in the I Poeti del Piano Solo festival.

Two projects that don’t need any introduction close A Jazz Supreme 2024: The Necks (8.11, Sala Vanni), the Australian cult band called “the greatest trio on Earth” by the New York Times, and the solo performance of Kurt Rosenwinkel (12.12, Museo dell’Opera del Duomo), one of the most iconic and distinctive guitarists in the world.

Like last year, each concert in Sala Vanni will be introduced by performances featuring young jazz musicians, shining beacons on the future of the Italian scene: Esmeralda Sella; Noemi Fiorucci & Davide Strangio; Giuditta Franco & Francesco Bordignon; Ava Alami & Vittorio Esposito; Ariel Tricomi.
